Counting Down

Its hard to believe that a year ago I was writing my essays for the Peace Corps (PC) application and interviewing with a returned volunteer. Its amazing how the year has flown by - for the good I'd say. Working at a resort and living the Asheville dream, I am so ready to get out of this cold climate and down south!

I have had the pleasure of sharing my time with a thoughtful, caring, hilarious and gorgeous man. Now that it is almost time to part ways I see why we've kept each other company for these past 10 months. It was a much needed example of love for the sake of love, no attachments and honoring one another for who we are, not who we want the other to be. Thank you kyle. You will be missed but not forgoten. I love you

Wow, that could have sucked

Yes, even though the title of Dr. Seuse's famous book is Oh! The Places You'll Go, I wanted to incorporate more than just my story into the blog. It's an avenue for travel and adventure from your very own computer, to travel through the eyes of someone else, making it about we and not just me!

I leave Wednesday (3/4) at 7AM to catch a flight to Miami where the rest of the Peace Corps group will meet and then off to Santo Domingo at an equally early time on Thursday. I have to admit that this being my last weekend in Asheville has me feeling a little overwhelmed! I have the need to meet up with friends and even those not so close to me just to say good bye one last time before I venture off for two years and three months! Yes, you read right a whole 2 years and 3 months to be exact! It is a very real possibility that I will not return to the states before a year from now or even after... I would really like to travel to South America instead. So if any of you want to see me again, we'll have to meet in Chile, Peru or Ecuador.

With all the excitement going on in my little bubble I failed to give my brother a wake up call so he wouldn't miss his flight from Austin to see me! I just new I should have listened to that gut feeling last night before tucking myself in... I will have to remember to listen to my intuition more closely now. So he did miss his flight and after Delta airlines screwed him out of his return flight too.. he found a stand by ticket to Charlotte, NC and will be here today after all! Hooray!!! It was very sad for a few minutes there when I thought he would not be able to say good bye to me. Alas, life worked it's self out.

Aside from packing and tying up loose ends... I'm ready for the journey!
